Upload your art files

Uploading files from either your Macintosh or Windows computer to our FTP server is an easy, quick, and efficient way to deliver your project files to us. Following the guidelines below will help ensure a trouble free transfer.

Files can be uploaded to our FTP server using either a web browser or dedicated FTP client. If you are using a dedicated FTP client, we recommend using Transmit (Macintosh), or CuteFTP (Windows).

First, make sure you have compressed your files into a single stuffed or zipped file. Give this file a short but descriptive name — for example, you can use your name, your sales rep's name, project title, etc. This enables us to identify who sent the file. Leave the folder window containing the file to be transferred open on the desktop.

Using a Web Browser to Upload Files

Our FTP server is configured to allow easy uploading of files using a Web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Windows Explorer).

  1. Start your browser and in the address line, enter http://ftp.dcgone.com:8000 and press return.
  2. Enter "dcg_pub" in the User Name field
  3. Enter "dcg_pub" in the password field. Note that "dcg_pub" is all lowercase.
  4. Press "LOGIN". A File Upload window will appear.
  5. Using the "BROWSE" button, find your zipped or stuffed file you wish to upload, select it and "Begin Upload". A dialog will indicate the upload in progress, and will inform you when the file has been successfully sent.
  6. Email or call your SEC account rep and let them know you've transferred your files.

From a Windows Computer Using Cute FTP

To upload from a Windows computer:

  1. Start CuteFTP.
  2. Select File/New/FTP Site.
  3. A login window will appear with blank host address, user name and password fields.
  4. In the host address field, enter "ftp.dcgone.com".
  5. Enter "dcg_pub" in the user ID field, and "dcg_pub" in the password field. Note that "dcg_pub" is all lowercase.
  6. Click "CONNECT".
  7. CuteFTP will connect with SEC's FTP server, and display an empty window.
  8. Drag your zipped file from your open folder into the FTP directory window (making sure to avoid dropping your file on any enclosed folder) and your transfer will be initiated. A progress indicator will appear, which will show when the files transfer is complete.
  9. Email or call your SEC sales rep and let them know that you've transferred your files.

From a Macintosh Computer Using Transmit

To upload from a Macintosh computer:

  1. Start Transmit.
  2. An "Untitled" window will appear with blank server name, user name, password and initial path fields.
  3. In the server field, enter "ftp.dcgone.com".
  4. Enter "dcg_pub" in the user ID field.
  5. Enter "dcg_pub" in the password field. Note that mpg is all lowercase.
  6. Click OK. Transmit will connect with SEC's FTP server, and display an empty window. In the lower left, you will see "Status: Idle," indicating a successful connection.
  7. Drag your stuffed or zipped file from your open folder into the FTP directory window (making sure to avoid dropping your file on any enclosed folder) and your transfer will be initiated. A progress indicator will appear at the bottom of the window which will show when your file transfer is complete.
  8. Email or call your SEC sales rep and let them know you've transferred your files.

Important

Our FTP server is set up so you can easily connect and transfer files from both Macintosh and Windows computers. If you have trouble connecting or logging on, here are a few things to check:

  • Are you behind a firewall? If so, the firewall may be blocking access to our FTP site. It should be configured so that ports 20 and 21 are open.
  • Make sure your FTP client is set to PASV (passive) mode.
  • Some TCP/IP routers will also block outgoing access, and will need to be configured to allow access to ports 20 and 21. Please check with your systems administrator to make sure your router allows outgoing access.
  • Do you have an onboard firewall active? Specifically, Windows XP firewall? Check here for information on configuring the Windows XP firewall.
  • Are you using virus protection software or Norton Internet Security 2004? Please check with the software publisher to determine if your protection software is blocking you from FTP.
